South Ferriby Charity Music Festival born in 2021
The South Ferriby Charity Music Festival was born in 2021, COVID had been and (nearly) gone, one of our close friends had the awful news that a lump was cancerous so we wanted to do something to help. Lots of ideas were thrown around and it was agreed that we would do a cake sale for PREVENT Breast Cancer. We also booked a musician Eleanor Grace to provide entertainment.
We quickly realised that we didn't really have anywhere for Eleanor to perform, with a bit / lot of help from friends and neighbours we got to work on building a stage, it was more of a platform to perform but it certainly did the job.
The day was a huge success, the weather was on our side lots of cakes were sold, we did a raffle and a sponsored head / face shave and the music was amazing. we raised an amazing £1343.04. The best news was that our friend got the all clear just before the event!!!
It was decided that we would do an event every year for a different charity each time, going forward we would do some evening events and the July one would be an all day Music Festival. We soon got to work on improving the stage and finding some acts to play. The 2022 charity was chosen. Inspire Children's Inpatient Unit. 9th July 2022.
We started our evening events with a Horse Race Night, then a Pool Competition (David Wootton being the winner) and lastly a Crazy Games night. Cake raffle in each event which meant we had raised plenty before the event.
The music event was another success, another lovely day for weather and packed with 9 acts, Gary Jennison the Compere and John and his team working the PA systems. We raised £2391 this time round and made some great friends along the way.
For 2023, we chose Andy's Man Club as our charity, we wanted to change things, but keep the things that worked. Evening events chosen to do were Horse Race Night, Pool Competition (Steve Jolly the winner), Beer Tasting and a Murder Mystery Night
As always, there was a raffle each event, Buttercream Bliss donating cake vouchers and Lincolnshire Craft Beers beer packs for every event.
For the main event we also got donations from The Hope and Anchor, The Sloop Inn, Flamingo Land and Big Fun,
We had some familiar faces but also some new acts, Deep Six Blues adding new members to their group, Kaspar bringing the Swamp Dogs, crowd favourite Morgan Mays returning.
New acts were local band Black Fire opening for us, Rachel Makena, Rhuari Cambell travelling all the way from Dundee and R3sistors closing.
Gary Jennison also returned as out Compere and John and his team doing the PA work all day.
£3353.13 was raised for Andy's Man Club so a huge thank you to everyone involved, we could not of done it without you all, even though the weather was not on our side we still had an amazing day / evening
Moving Forward into 2024, we have set the date as 13th July 2024, the charity chosen is the Emotional Wellbeing Hub, based at the Humber Bridge in Hessle, there will be 2 evening events, Horse Race Night on 19th January and a Pool competition in March (TBA)
We will have some Acts returning and others joining us
Another Mixture of New Acts and old favourites
Kaspar and the Swamp Dogs and Morgan Mays returned for their 3rd time, Rachel Makena and Rhuari Campbell returning for their 2nd time, joined by Hettys Happy Hour, DJ Redlocz and the F***wits.
Gary Jennison let the proceedings as our Compere for the 3rd time and John again joined us with his PA set up.
